Governor Beverly Eaves Perdue has designated Oct. 22-26 as Archives Week in North Carolina. The State Archives of North Carolina will celebrate Archives Week with educational programs planned to reflect this year’s theme, “Journeys to Justice: Civil Rights in North Carolina.”
On Monday, October 22 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. the State Archives’ Search Room will display historical documents and photographs in an exhibit, “Civil War to Civil Rights in North Carolina.” From 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. that same day, archivist Ashley Yandle will cover some of the digital tools that Archives offers the public in a a presentation called
Armchair Historians: Tools You Can Use at Home or on the Go. Both events are free.
On Thursday, October 25, 9:00 a.m. to noon, the Friends of the Archives will sponsor the workshop "
Digitizing and Remote Sharing of Family Materials." The workshop is free to members and $10 for non-members. To register, call (919) 807-7310.
The Archives will also host the popular
Triangle Home Movie Day. The event is part of a worldwide celebration of amateur home will be presented in auditorium. All events will be held at the State Archives/State Library Building at
