Preserving Civil War Textiles

Throughout late 2013 and early 2014 the Connecting to Collections Project (C2C) of the N.C. Department of Cultural Resources is organizing a series of live video presentations on the conservation of Civil War-era textiles in cooperation with the N.C. Museum of History.

The first program--presented in September 2013--took a look at uniforms. You can see an archived version of it below.

The second program--presented in December 2013--examined flags. Again, you can see an archived version of it below:

A third program--scheduled for March 11, 2014--will look at the science behind Civil War artillery, and will feature live cannon firing. Though we don't yet have a time for the program and are still finalizing the details for it, we invite you to join us by signing up here

The entire series is made possible thanks to a federal grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
