The Western Office representative of North Carolina's Office of State Archaeology (OSA) coordinates and implements a region-wide program of prehistoric and historic archaeology. Legal and professional responsibilities include:
- archaeological resource protection,
- archaeological data inventory,
- public education,
- regulatory compliance review and
- technical assistance.
