March 12, 1942 in the waters off Southport, NC, American tanker John D. Gill, fell victim to the German submarine offensive along the United States coast. Twenty-three seamen lost their lives in this fiery attack, while some of the rescued survivors were carried ashore at Southport. Join Branch in discussing the night from the perspectives of the Germans and the Americans involved.
