Regional Contests
North Carolina is divided into seven regions for National History Day competitions. Students must participate in their assigned regional contest before they can qualify for the state contest. If a student or school needs to compete outside of their assigned region or needs a virtual option, please contact nchistoryday@ncdcr.gov to arrange.
Teachers and students should plan to have projects completed before the registration deadline listed for their regional contest as some project materials must be submitted online during registration by that deadline. To see what is due during registration in each category, please view the project submission guidelines for all North Carolina regional and state contests.
