Find a state park near you There are 41 places that are currently part of the North Carolina State Parks system: 34 parks, four recreation areas, and three staffed state natural areas. Find a trail near you The North Carolina Trails Program oversees the creation and maintenance of this wide system of trails that we have in our state. Recreate Responsibly The Recreate Responsibly guidelines offer a starting point for getting outside to keep yourself healthy and to maintain access to our beloved natural spaces. Park Rules Park rules are for the protection of our visitors and natural resources, and to make everyone's visit a safe and enjoyable experience. Places & Programs Prairie Ridge Ecostation Prairie Ridge boasts a green Outdoor Classroom, a native plant garden and native tree arboretum, a series of ponds and vernal pools, and a trail system winding through the prairie and forest. Take a Child Outside Inspired by Richard Louv’s book “Last Child in the Woods,” Take A Child Outside week was founded to help connect children with nature. NC State Parks Events & Programs From fishing lessons to astronomy programs, from tree identification hikes to kite workshops, our parks offer a variety of learning opportunities for all ages. Brunswick Town and Fort Anderson Trails through this beautiful historic site are enhanced with outdoor exhibits that tell the history of the colonial town, the exposed foundations, and Fort Anderson.
