Lex JanesLegislative Affairs Director
After graduating with double majors in Political Science and Psychology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, he made his way to Pittsburgh, PA, and worked with then-City Councilman Bill Peduto, who was elected mayor of Pittsburgh in 2013. Janes was tapped to lead the mayor’s newly-created Office of Community Affairs.
This helped prepare Janes for his new role at DNCR -- he regularly interacted with Pennsylvania state representatives and senators to address ongoing challenges in their districts within the city, and he communicated to City Council members how legislation proposed by Mayor Peduto would benefit their constituents and districts. He also supported the efforts of Pittsburgh’s vast network of cultural and environmental organizations, which are pillars of the community that kept the city afloat during the collapse of the local steel industry.
Janes and his wife, Caroline, a North Carolina native, are thrilled to be returning to the Old North State.
