Archaeolympic Games

Event Description

Join the celebration of World Atlatl Day and participate in Town Creek’s 4th annual Archaeolympic Games! Engage in a little experimental archaeology while testing your prehistoric survival skills by throwing Atlatl spears, try your hand at fire making by bow-drill, demonstrate accuracy in a game of Chunky or the original version of corn-hole, and compete in timed cordage weaving. Then, check out the Learning Center where members from the Woodland Knappers and Ancestral Skills group will be holding a "knapp-in" demonstrating the ancient art of knapping (controlled breaking) of stone into tool forms.  Jason Pentrail of will also be there with info on the Seven Ages podcast.  It’s fun for all ages and an easy way to make great family memories!
