Celebrate the Best of the State at North Carolina Awards Event

Gov. Cooper

Celebrate some of the brightest, most creative and giving of North Carolina citizens at the North Carolina Awards ceremony Saturday, Nov. 16 at the Raleigh Convention Center. Each year the state recognizes citizens who have made a significant impact on North Carolina and the nation in the areas of fine arts, literature, science or public service with a black-tie gala. The award is presented by the governor.

Invitations to past recipients and attendees recently were mailed. The list includes governors, musicians, innovators, philanthropists and many civic, academic and community leaders. From the cocktail hour meet and greet to the formal dinner and awards presentation, it is a party and banquet recognizing the best of North Carolina.

The 2019 recipients, announced Oct. 7, are the Rev. Dr. William Barber II, Judge W. Earl Britt, Philip Gerard, Deborah Proctor, Lawrence Wheeler and Catherine Wilfert, M.D.
