NOAA shipwreck exploration to be featured in real time at NC Aquarium on Roanoke Island

The deep-water robotic investigation of an unidentified shipwreck off the North Carolina coast will be shown live to guests at the NC Aquarium on Roanoke Island on June 25. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) will conduct the dive 40 miles off the coast of Hatteras Island via a robotic submersible launched from the research vessel Okeanos Explorer.

Teachers in North Carolina’s Title I schools have an opportunity to engage their students in ocean science programming, thanks to a new program offering privately-funded mini-grants. The Aquarium Scholars program will provide underserved students in Title I schools across the state access to ocean science and science, technology, engineering and math aquarium education opportunities.

Fairies, elves, imps, gnomes, wizards, sea monsters, storybook creatures and other mythical characters are invited to a magical day of imagination and education for the day themed “Forest Fairies to Sea Serpents.”
