Pianist Celebrates American Music at State Capitol

Pianist Lara Downes will perform and Alexander Bernstein narrate in a program in tribute to his father, acclaimed composer Leonard Bernstein, Monday, Sept. 18, at the State Capitol. It’s a celebration of American music and its importance to understanding history, and the 50thanniversary of the North Carolina Arts Council. The doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the free performance is at 7 p.m.
