The North Carolina Museum of Art (NCMA) announces that Marjorie Hodges has joined the Museum as director of external relations and special projects. Hodges will support the Museum with fund-raising, marketing, audience development, and program development.

“We are thrilled to welcome Marjorie to the Museum and know that she will help bolster our commitment to community involvement, collaborations, and outreach,” says Lawrence J. Wheeler, director of the NCMA. “With Marjorie’s support, we look forward to developing exciting programs, reaching new audiences, and engaging with the community.”

As director of external relations and special projects, Hodges will focus on fund-raising for special projects, such as Museum Park development; expanding the Museum Travel Program, which plans art-related trips to national and international destinations for members; engaging with community groups, corporate leadership, and local organizations; and developing new audiences based on visitor statistics and strategic objectives.

Before joining the NCMA, Hodges served as director of CAM Raleigh’s Foundation for over two years and served on the Contemporary Art Museum Board of Directors and as an officer for several years.

A graduate of the University of Georgia, Hodges has over 20 years of marketing and public relations experience from major corporations including Walt Disney World and Pfizer. Her background also includes contemporary art curating, exhibition planning, fine-art consulting, and collections management. Hodges worked for six years with Flanders Gallery in Raleigh’s Warehouse District, where she helped plan exhibitions and curate private and corporate collections in the Triangle area and beyond.
