Somerset Place Shares Music and History of Civil War May 16

<p>Life experiences during the Civil War will be shared in a &quot;Music and Literature of the Civil War&quot; program May 16, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Somerset Place State Historic Site. Based on original letters and business records, visitors will get a glimpse of the wartime experience from Somerset residents and will encounter the characters on a walking tour.</p>

Life experiences during the Civil War will be shared in a "Music and Literature of the Civil War" program May 16, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Somerset Place State Historic Site. Based on original letters and business records, visitors will get a glimpse of the wartime experience from Somerset residents and will encounter the characters on a walking tour.

Music historian Simon Spaulding will perform Civil War music and soldier songs. The multi-instrumentalist has performed lecture-concerts from a variety of time periods at museums and institutions across the United States and abroad. The reenactors will include Matthew Young, Haron Beatty and Andrew Duppstadt

Tickets are now available and are $6.41 for adults, $3.20 for children ages 12 and below; taxes are included in the cost.
