Gullah Geechee Commission to Meet Saturday, Sept. 17 in Southport, N.C.

<p>The Gullah Geechee Cultural Heritage Corridor Commission will hold its quarterly business meeting Saturday, Sept. 17, from 9 a.m. to noon at Mount Carmel AME Church, 507 N. Lord St., Southport, N.C.</p>

The Gullah Geechee Cultural Heritage Corridor Commission will hold its quarterly business meeting Saturday, Sept. 17, from 9 a.m. to noon at Mount Carmel AME Church, 507 N. Lord St., Southport, N.C.
 
The public is invited to attend and hear reports on the Commission's work in the Corridor, which extends from Pender County, N.C., to St. Johns County, FL. After the business meeting, the public is invited to make presentations (limited to three minutes each) on critical issues in Gullah Geechee communities.
The Gullah Geechee Cultural Heritage Corridor Commission was established in 2006. The purpose of the Commission is to assist federal, state, and local authorities in the development and implementation of a management plan for those lands and waters specified as the Gullah Geechee Cultural Heritage Corridor.
