A limited-edition poster that celebrates the 2018 North Carolina Heritage Award recipients is now available in advance of the May 23 ceremony and concert in Raleigh.

Created by artist Katy G. Collier, the screen-printed poster is the first-ever commissioned to celebrate the N.C. Heritage Award.

Inspired by traditional print patterns and pastoral forms, Collier captured artistic elements of each recipient’s craft: a fiddle for Arvil Freeman; pottery and a saw wheel for Glenn and Lula Bolick; delicate bells for South Indian dance instructor and performer Asha Bala; a mandolin for Tony Williamson; and a trumpet for R&B and soul musician Dick Knight.

The poster is available for purchase online and at the event on Wednesday, May 23 at the Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Raleigh.

The North Carolina Heritage Award Ceremony is part of the N.C. Arts Council’s 50th Anniversary celebration. Information about the ceremony and concert is available here.
