See the magic and skill as fabric, tools or toys take shape at the “Saturday on the Farm” program June 22, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Governor Aycock Birthplace State Historic Site. The free event will showcase blacksmithing, woodworking and spinning talents and will celebrate 19th century North Carolina farm life. Music will be performed by the Waterbound Dulcimers in the morning.
In addition, vintage farm equipment will be exhibited by the Eastern Carolina Vintage Farm Equipment Club, and the Beekeepers of the Neuse will showcase a glass beehive. They also will share information on honeybees and have local honey for sale.
Costumed docents will demonstrate various aspects of 19th century farm life during tours of the historic buildings. The Aycock Birthplace State Historic Site features a mid-19th century farmstead that includes a house, kitchen and outbuildings with period furnishings.

The site is located at 264 Governor Aycock Road, Fremont, NC 27830. Please take U.S. 117 north nine miles from Goldsboro or U.S. 117 south 14 miles from Wilson. Turn right from Goldsboro, or left from Wilson, onto Governor Aycock Road. The historic site is 1.5 miles on the right. From I-95, take the U.S. 301 exit at Kenly, then take highway 222 east for 10 miles to Fremont and turn right onto U.S. 117. Travel two miles and turn left onto Gov. Aycock Road.
