The nomination period for the 2018 North Carolina Award, the highest civilian honor bestowed by the state, has been extended to May 15.

Nominations are being accepted for the 2018 North Carolina Award, the highest civilian honor bestowed by the state, now through April 15.

Six traditional artists from across the state will receive North Carolina Heritage Awards on May 23, 2018 for their contributions to our state’s cultural vitality, Governor Roy Cooper announced today. 

Six North Carolinians were honored for their achievements Thursday, Nov. 9, by Governor Roy Cooper, who presented each recipient with the state’s highest civilian honor, the North Carolina Award. The awards were presented at a ceremony at the Raleigh Marriott City Center.

The state's highest civilian honor, the North Carolina Award, will be presented to six distinguished North Carolinians Thursday, Nov. 9, at the Raleigh Marriott City Center. Governor Roy Cooper will present the awards at the 7 p.m. banquet and ceremony.

A N.C. Highway Historical Marker will be dedicated Tuesday, Nov. 1, to recognize the 1963 Fourth Circuit Court ruling that receipt of federal funding made private hospitals subject to the Fifth and Fourteenth Amendments.

The North Carolina Museum of Art (NCMA) was recently named one of the best museums in America by the online magazine INSIDER. The museum was ranked thirteenth out of the top 25 museums in the country by the publication, which were ranked using data from the online technology company Foursquare. 

 

The state's highest civilian honor, the North Carolina Award, will be presented to seven distinguished North Carolinians Thursday, Sept. 22, at the Raleigh Marriott City Center. Governor Pat McCrory will present the awards at the 7 p.m. banquet and ceremony, following a reception for the recipients at 6 p.m.
