Ring in spring with the new "Music, Dance and 'Que Fest" at President James K. Polk State Historic Site, Sat., May 14, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Music will fill the air all day, as performers sing, dance and play their way through 19th century tunes.

Fireworks, cannon blasts, Civil War re-enactments, a U.S. Marine Corps Band concert and a series of family friendly events will be among the many activities offered April 22-24 at Fort Macon State Park.

The first ever battle re-enactment at Alamance Battleground State Historic Site will take place May 14-15 for the 245th anniversary event. 

The centuries-old animosities between England and France played out in the New World in the French and Indian War. 

Young Civil War re-actors from across the country soon will travel to Alamance Battleground in Burlington. They will recreate the experience of the North Carolina Junior Reserves during the Civil War April 2-3.
