Governor Pat McCrory and Secretary Susan Kluttz Sign 2013 SECC Pledges

Secretary Susan Kluttz joined Governor Pat McCrory recently in signing a pledge to contribute to the 2013 State Employees Combined Campaign. DCR employees’ annual charitable gift giving campaign begins in October with a Charity Fair in the DCR lobby and runs through Thanksgiving. SECC is the only fundraising campaign authorized to solicit charitable contributions in the state employee workplace.

"The best part of this campaign is that there are more than a thousand eligible charities and there is something in it for everyone," said Secretary Kluttz. "This effort allows state employees to be a part of a team effort, but allows them to choose their favorite charities to support." Secretary Kluttz was appointed by Governor McCrory as the 2013 Chairman of the SECC.

Since 1985, the State Employees Combined Campaign has raised over $91 million in gifts to charities that operate throughout North Carolina and the world. Ten percent of donations goes to fundraising and administrative costs, so state employees can give with confidence.

Last year state employees pledged $4,419,782 to charities through the SECC. The Department of Cultural Resources employees’ donations represent $29,757 of that total.  We had almost 25% participation. For the last two years, DCR has won the SECC’s prestigious Chairman’s Award for per capita giving—what an achievement for our small department—indeed, a testament to our compassionate staff.  DCR’s department executive for the 2013 SECC campaign is Ansley Wegner.
