Sec. Susan Kluttz joined several hundred people (including a troupe of Civil War re-enactors) at the N.C. Museum of History Saturday to get a print signed by Civil War artist Mort Künstler. Loyal fans of Künstler started forming a line at 9 a.m. for his 11 a.m. signing of prints, books and memorabilia. Though the event was slated to end around 3 p.m. Künstler kept on signing until about an extra hour, graciously chatting with each person as if they were an old friend.

Many prints of “Capitol Farewell,” numerous books, calendars and other Künstler items were sold in the museum’s shop over the course of the day. If you missed the event, have no fear! The shop will continue to the carry signed, numbered print and autographed books during the run of the exhibit For Us the Living: The Civil War Art of Mort Künstler, which closes Jan. 5, 2014.
