Colonial Traditions will be rekindled during Christmas in Halifax! Colonial traditions along with a lively Christmas Parade will combine to create a festive atmosphere for all Saturday, Dec. 12, from 10 a.m.-4p.m.

Enjoy a tour of several of the historic site's buildings, festively decorated with natural materials from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Visitors can also tour other Halifax buildings and churches that are not regularly open to the public including St. Mark's Episcopal Church, First Baptist Church, the Catholic Church of the Immaculate Conception and the Royal White Hart Masonic Lodge, No. 2, all open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Stop by the visitor center for a complete schedule and map.

Activities throughout the town add to the day's appeal. Businesses along King Street will be open, providing opportunities to find that unique holiday gift. The Halifax County Library will show short holiday films from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and patrons may visit with Santa at 11 a.m. At 1 p.m. the KIPP-GCP Charter School Pep Band will hold a concert in the Town's new Mural Park on King Street.

Preservation Halifax will serve cider and cookies in the Tap Room tavern. At 2 p.m., the Town of Halifax's annual Christmas Parade will proceed along King Street. Children and the young at heart will want to have their wish lists ready, as they may visit with Santa Claus at The Hen and The Hog restaurant at 3 p.m. following the parade. A hearty soup and sandwich luncheon will be served from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the Halifax United Methodist Church for a fee.
