To celebrate Earth Day, Tryon Palace will have special activities and guests throughout the grounds and at the North Carolina History Center Saturday, April 23, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Visitors can learn about the flora, fauna, and all things that make up the various ecosystems of eastern North Carolina and how to protect them.

Throughout the day, visitors can learn about water quality, recreation and the animals of eastern North Carolina's river system from Lower Neuse Riverkeeper, Travis Graves; and about the process of composting from The Coastal Environmental Partnership's solid waste planner, Bobbi Waters. Members of the Lower Neuse Bird Club will also discuss the backyard birds found throughout the area at 10 a.m. at the North Carolina History Center.

Other activities held throughout the North Carolina History Center and Tryon Palace's gardens will focus on allowing visitors to explore the sights, sounds and smells of the riverside ecosystem of Tryon Palace and downtown New Bern.

Access to all activities for Earth Day at Tryon Palace are included with the purchase of a One Day Pass or Gardens Pass.
