Two-day event for WWI Weekend set for July 17-18

World War I Weekend will be held at Tryon Palace and the North Carolina History Center from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 17-18, in downtown New Bern. This first-time event invites visitors to discover the stories and images of World War I through artifacts, photos, reenactors and exhibits.

WWI collectors will fill Mattocks Hall, showcasing their rare and interesting collections that include weapons, uniforms, photos and many more one-of-a-kind items from The Great War.

North Carolina in the Great War, an exhibit in the Duffy Exhibition Gallery, will also be open and full of artifacts, photos and uniforms documenting North Carolina's contributions to the war effort. One of the highlights of the exhibit is a life-size model trench like the ones that used on the battlefields of WWI.
