The Town of Hudson renovated a former school in the community into an arts center, arts incubator and performance space. The Hub Station Arts Center also houses a museum to honor the works of author Jan Karon, who attended the former school and is now most well known for The Mitford Years series and its companion books. Town officials put great effort into beautifully renovating the HUB center, however, they were uneasy about developing programming that would encourage people to return to the center for more than just performances. With the direction of the N.C. Arts Council and DNCR, the town used its grant to hire a programming and marketing consultant to develop and advertise a series of events beginning in February 2022. These events included two juried art shows, regular monthly after-hours events, and a monthly art series, helping make the HUB a part of community life in Hudson.
