Madison County is home to the longest, unbroken ballad singing tradition in the southern Appalachians. First documented by Cecil Sharp in 1916, the county has produced many award-winning musicians. Wings & Strings is a visual haiku that celebrates the musical magic that surrounds Marshall all year round. A drawn bow that radiates waves of sound when pulled across the fiddle strings to the metronome-like movements of an eastern black swallowtail butterfly.
